Summer is one of the most exciting times for youth sports. With school out and longer daylight hours, kids finally have the time to run, play, and compete with their teammates. But as the temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat-related injuries—something we at Sports Gear Reload take very seriously.
Heat exhaustion, dehydration, muscle cramps, and even heat stroke can strike quickly—especially during peak summer months like June and July. And for many youth sports organizations, especially those operating on tight budgets or in underserved communities, access to the right gear and safeguards can be limited.
We’ve talked to coaches who are doing everything they can to keep kids safe—but they’re often working with outdated uniforms, limited water supplies, and no shelter from the sun. The reality is: when it comes to summer sports safety, gear matters.
That’s where Sports Gear Reload comes in.
We’re here to level the playing field—literally. Our mission is to help nonprofit and community youth sports programs get the high-quality gear and equipment they need, without the high price tag. And during summer, our focus expands beyond jerseys and cleats to include safety essentials like:
Breathable, moisture-wicking uniforms to prevent overheating
Large-capacity water jugs and refillable bottles for team hydration
Pop-up shade tents and misting fans for tournament days
Cooling towels and first-aid kits equipped for hot weather emergencies
We believe no child should be at greater risk just because their team lacks resources. That’s why we work hard to match donated and discounted gear with programs that need it most. And it’s why we’re asking for your support this summer.
If you’re an individual, family, or business with gently used youth gear—or if you’d like to help fund essential summer safety supplies—we’d love to partner with you. Every donation directly supports youth athletes who otherwise might be playing without basic protection from the heat.
When kids are safe, they can focus on what matters: learning, growing, and loving the game. Let’s make that possible for more young athletes this summer.
Join us in reloading the game—with safety, equity, and heart.
